Debt-free Christmas

This Christmas, about 85% of us are still paying off last year’s Christmas.   Saving ahead for the holiday’s, spreads the financial demands of Christmas over many months.  Having a cash holiday budget & leaving credit cards at home, means you’ll be less tempted to overspend next holiday season. 

Estimate about how much you want to spend on Christmas next year (decorations, food, party, gifts, cards etc.)  Divide that amount by the number of paychecks you will receive between now & October.  The earlier you shop the less stressful next year’s holiday shopping will be so start next October.  Don’t forget to bring your gift list with you everywhere you shop so that you can keep track of who you have already bought for. 

Catching deals throughout the year can also help you save time & money.  Keep any gifts that are bought early all together in the same place & mark them on your gift list that you can start early next year.
