Organize Your Files Week

The Third Week In April is Organizing Your Files Week!

Taxes are filed, now is a great time to clear out last year's financial documents and go through some paperwork that you have in your files that are obsolete, out of date, or haven't been touched in years.  My advice -- shred shred shred.  Also, take 15 mins everyday to help tame your "To be filed" pile & ever growing mail pile.  Review the files that you have stached away, piece by piece.  It's also a good time to start scanning your files & going paperless.  However, you might want to start this process after you have gone through all of your paperwork.  If you like having paper files, make a paper management system where you will be able to put your hand on any piece of paper in 30 seconds or less.

Remember those questions from my previous blog?  Here are two you can use when sorting through your old paper work.  Ask yourself:

"What's the worst thing that would happen if you got rid of it?"

"Could you replace it again if you needed it in the future?"

What kind of file system are you using?

Happy Filing!

Jennifer
