Organizing receipts

Organizing receipts is hard for everyone.  Using a small accordion file can help tame your receipt madness.  Label each tab (Cash, Debit Card, Deposit slips, Amex Credit Card, Visa Credit Card, Returns etc).  You can label each credit card with the last four digits of the card # so when you’re looking at the receipt you can find where you need to file it away quickly.  Start organizing by emptying all receipts from your wallet, pockets, car and desk.  Store your checkbook in the front of the file along with a pen.  Carry your small file with you everywhere & every time you get a receipt store it immediately.  You may want to jot down an explanation on your receipts or deposit slips so when it’s time to do your checkbook you remember what it’s for.  If you stick to it, finding a receipt to make a return should be a breeze.  Doing your checkbook should be less stressful as well.
